Botanical Name: Chamaecyparis formosensis Matsum

Hinoki Wood oil from Taiwan has a balsamic cedar-like clean smell lacking much of the more vulgar notes found in common cedarwoods. This material is distilled from wood chips and saw dust leftover from existing specialty custom woodworkers. No trees are cut down solely to produce the oil, but the material remaining from other existing uses is distilled. There are no pesticides or chemicals used to promote growth or kill insects because this is a natural occuring species with strong resistance and no real enemies.
Common Uses: Energizing and uplifting to the mind. Relaxing to the central nervous system and releases negative emotions. Use with a carrier oil to relieve sore muscles. Conditions wood, reduces rot and insect activity. Has been said to be helpful for respiratory conditions. Promotes soft, supple skin.
